G'day Craig,
Should be a close games, rumour has it that Pat's old and might not be competing and with Jono and his sore back, (i'm sure he wouldn't be competing so shortly after pulling out of Bill's games, would he). Might be down to the old guard, you, me and Aaron. Catch up with you on the 13th.

Aside from that, Valerie won sportladie of the year, as well as sportperson for the third year in a row.

Mick

Back on topic turn up, throw the decathalon and see where you end up.
Paeroa is a great day. I have spoken to Pat and obviously with the invite to the worlds that would be a priority to be ready for. Great shame for the games and for us not to have him there. There will still be a great field to contend with and opens things up for the Aus-v- NZ caber

Look forward to catching up and having a great games.

See you all Saturday

Really in two minds about missing it this year - but just too much on and now having not thrown for a few months (except the beer keg) it's not worth a last minute flight. And with having the AC/DC concert. And with having just been to Victoria.
Oh to win the Lotto and just go to all competitions regardless.
And pay for a babysitter all the time, haha.
Definitely be on the cards next year though.

Good luck all.
Go the green and gold !

Gee, thanks Luke. 2 Comments from you.

If you were in my shoes, could you really blame me for pulling out?
And I only asked 3 or 4 times to be taken off the overall points sheet or have an asterix added to my score to indicate withdrawl. That didn't happen and I get a bunch of people asking me to explain the situation. I'll admit the Ironmind write up came off as pretentious, and I'm not completely comfortable with it. "A favourite" is way different to "The favourite".. Rauno was the favourite going into that comp, and he won.

I quit because I knew my back was not feeling good and there was a good chance of an injury if I pushed the deadlift. The risk outweighed the reward. There was another reason, but we're not discussing that on here, though I'm sure you could guess what I mean.

I'll be at Paeroa and I'm looking forward to what is always a great games. Pity about Pat, but I understand.

You do realise that the Luke Reynolds that posts on here is actually a malevolent troll who has stolen the name of the strongman competitor, don't you?

Actually it isn't, but comes across that way

Great news you guys are throwing well.
I take it that johns sunburnt hands have healed from Waipu, they were bad.
Will be a good shootout to see which NZ athletes go through to the tattoo caber challenge.
Another great games coming up.

Another great day at Paeroa.
Very good competition held in weather more like the tropics than Scotland. Heavy rain showers and then hot sun.
For me unfortunately blew out a rib cartliage on first throw of heavy hammer (3rd event) token throw only on light hammer cost me dearly, then got through other events to finish the comp. COngrats to Jono, crowds of over 5000 and a briliant evening tattoo show, I was able to regain some respect takng the international caber challenge for the tattoo. Ruben has improved immensely on the throws and took the caber in the main competition. More technique on the implements and he will Kick some --- as he isn't far behind now with his power throwing.
Thanks to Russell Player and all the organisers and helpers for the competition.

I second what Craig said, a day of near misses and direct hits. Could of made a "Destroyed in Seconds" or "Funniest Home video" show out of the day. Congratulations to Jono, but I have to ask where you pulled some of those throws from. :? Record crowds for the day, committee is happy.
