Postby aussiepower on Wed Mar 10, 2010 11:07 am

Due to illness and continued negative forces going against the flow and developement of the Sport of strongman in Australia Im withdrawing my support untill further notice.

All sites are now offline.

All events with exception to the Southern Hercules are now cancelled .

I'm sorry to hear this news Bill.

Why is it most strength sports generally seem to implode due to politics, in-fighting, and a lack of compromise?

Its a shame how some people like to pull the legs when the other is trying to step up.
I am pretty sure there are lot of people out there supporting you, Bill.Lot of them are quite obviously coz the forum sometime does more harm than good.Whoever is out there should at least come out and support Bill.He is trying to the right thing and grow the sports bit taller.

Wish you all the best.

The biggest problem i have with Aussies is that we love to criticise others but don't actually do anything ourselves to change the situation. Strongman is a very small sport with great potential and from what i know Bill is doing his best to unite the sport and create competition opportunities for those who share a love for Strongman. Instead it is being torn apart by individual agendas.

Some positive feedback and encouragement wouldn't go astray for this lover of Strongman and asian women Koala Bear Bill ;-)

when I think Australian strongman, Derek Boyd and Bill Lyndon always pop to mind. I watched with awe guys like Kaz and JPS in the 80s, and wandered if anyone from down under would ever have a crack at a sport that was and still is dominated by the giants of Europe and still is!! But you and Derek proved to young guys like me back then in the 90s and as I'm sure majority of the strength guys now that if you guys can make it up there then we can also have a go! Eventhough you guys bicep curl my best deadlift!!

Anyhow, here's my 2cents worth.. DONT give up mate!! You're too important to the sport in Oz to even go on a break!

I'm a part-timer at Camden Strongman so I'm a supporter!

Koala Bill. haven't heard that for a bit. :D

But seriously the events that have transpired here are truly a crying shame! What is wrong with this sport if one of our original strength legends of this sport, gets shunted aside due to shitty politics. bill hasn't competed in and promoted this sport for over 20years for f@#kin money or anything else, it's because he loves it! you gotta be bat shit crazy in love with strongman to do what he has and for him to feel he needs to leave in this fashion is a disgrace. i know bill personally and have competed in several of his comps, always enjoyable, but i know this shit has been weighing heavily on him for months now. i wasn't necessarily surprised when this thread appeared. however, i feared it would.
like aaron said, everyone loves to criticise but nobody wants to offer a solution or a better idea.
try to enjoy the rest of your holiday Bill.

Bill I have no idea what has caused the dramas of recent times but judge your support in the community by the athletes that are wanting to compete in your events.
As you have always said "It is only the athletes that really matter"
Your health is the most important consideration so look after yourself and get strong..but I do think you underestimate the support.

Bill if its not to late dont give up and the shit that gets said on here by these 1 comp warriors should be taken with a pinch of shit like I said before these forum whores think that they know all ! you guys no shit. [removed by James] we say that women are bitchy have a back read over some of the stuff written over the last few months and tell me what you think.Keep trying Spud lyndon

Hi Gents ,

Thanks for the Great Support.

The Shutdown puts me in difficult situation as I know you guys just want to compete at any level anytime anywhere and need an outlet, but there have been a accumulation of “Acts of Dis-respect “ over the past year that have really put me off taking things up a level or two,and without repeating myself need to seriously consider my continued support of Strength sports in Australia…

On a more positive note.

My health is on the improve I wont go into detail but quite a few red flags went up.. did my first training session today ..the first in months.. The plan is to drop some weight and lift some.

,Im planning a few small coaching clinics / Events in the Philippines for next week and have some interest from MMA and Bodybuilding Federations to do some stunts and other events options… very well received here ...

Thanks Again from all the senior guys for your support ,and from the Novice fraternity its Humbling..

It's a real shame to see you walk away like this Bill in my opinion. It would of been really great for the sport and all involved if you could of worked with all those that were trying to work with you as the sport has changed so much over the last five years as you are now more than fully aware of. It's also a shame that you see retaliation as a sign of "disrespect" because that is not what I believe any of this has been about.

Your knowledge and passion for the sport has been long recognised and everyone sees you as a great pioneer of strongman in Australia, regardless of politics etc. I personally hope after your holiday that you come back refreshed with a new outlook on Team Work in Australian strongman.

This is my honest view on this topic and has no malice involved.
