I understand that Joel's event isn't a SM per se, but its something that will take a good deal of energy out prior to the following weekend comp and I'm just pissed off that I can't do his as well as the ACT one. So you could equally say Joel has hijacked the ACT comp!

Steve, I'm also with you. Its great to have lots of comps on...my point is that it would be nice if all comp promoters would have a little respect for each other and looked in the diary first before posting dates. The more the merrier.

Joel, if you think I was having a go you're mistaken. Just wish you had thought about the dates first as I have lost someone to cancer and would like to have a go at yours.

What the hell are you on about Scott? Why would you think that Joe has hijacked this comp? I agree with Lukes comment in regards to the way your acting. Joel at Power Sports has done nothing wrong. He is having a athletic/strongman comp to promote his new business. Pull your head in mate.

Marc, I was simply using Luke's analogy when I said hijack. I was hijacking Joel's thread here as much as he is hijacking the comp the following week...ie not much as they are different style. Understand now? It was more to do with timing. Could have been better don't you agree? And your comment about pulling my head it typifies and amplifies my point nicely...school yard. Thanks. Eloquently put.

Scotty wow who have you been talking to . For someone who has been in the country for 4 months you definately have a strong opinion on what has gone on in the last 18 months.
Just to put you in the picture( although it may be a different theatre we are at) Strongman in Australia has come on in leaps and bounds albeit mainly in Queensland. But now there are groups springing up in other states and all it needs is promoters to put on more comps to keep getting newbies interested. That is easier said than done as it takes time and money but we have more promoters now than even 6 months ago . So although tming mightn't suit dont be too harsh as we need to keep these guys in the sport. What Bill is trying to achieve is admirable and will hopefully lead to better communication between groups but the sport needs positivity ..we have had the dramas lets keep moving on

Regarding this comment-

Last year i competed in the Berry celtic festival comp with David Huxleys Tartan warriors in the nsw southern highlands. immediately following the comp, we jumped in the car, drove 12 hours through the night to melbourne, had scant more than 3 hours sleep, got up on the sunday morning competed all day in James' dandenong strongman comp, then drove all the way home to richmond, nsw, the next day. i won the overall in both comps, infact i won every event in the dandenong comp. now, i am not telling you this to toot my own horn, so to speak. i'm using it to demonstrate the dedication required to compete in this sport sometimes. don't whinge about too many comps, after everyone has complained about not enough comps for months, even years. just be thankful that people are putting comps on. if two comps conflict, pick which one you want, then do it. or do both. i hardly see two comps being a week apart as conflicting. if you want to do comps, this goes for everyone, get yourself to the comps! don't expect everything to be done for you!

Anyway, Goodluck Powersports, and goodluck to all the competitors of the several upcoming comps.

Luke, absolutely fair play to you...and I genuinely mean it. I however, being new to the sport and ruined from a hard 2 decades in the military, need longer to recover! It would be nice to see all promoters getting on and helping each other so that we can all benefit and enjoy. No doubt I'll get a comment similar to the 'its a strongman sport so eat more' from someone. Just hope the sport blossoms and we can get some good sponsorship coming in. If potential sponsors see what me and some others do, it ain't going to happen any time soon.

No offense meant,

Hey Scotty,

I agree that comps shouldnt be put on near each other. Realistically though I dont see this powersports challange as a strongman comp to try and challange anyone, it has things like vertical jump, band runs etc included. It looks like a lot of fun and that the owner is doing his best to promote his new business and I wish him all the best in it!

Whether a moderating body is needed in organising comps - I dont know if that neccesarily required. Paddy and myself spoke about the date of our club vs club training day and wanted it a fortnight after RS because we thought its plenty of time between. Personally, my gym is opening the following day after the comp, it would have been MUCH easier for me to have the comp on the same day as the RS comp or even the week after, but we wanted to give the fortnight so people are able to do both. Also dont forget our comp is really only between 2 clubs anyway - its not a open comp thats meant to be competing with anyone, we are here to have fun and enjoy the sport.

I think we need less whinging all round (thats directed at everyone) and more loving the sport -

GROUP HUG.

Just like to thank everyone who came down to watch and compete in the comp last weekend - sorry I have not got on sooner I have been flat out!

To many ppl to name but thanks to everyone and big thanks to Camden (hope I spelt that right lol) guys who came down here to compete - honestly everyone thought you guys were great - your advice and taking the time to help some of the guys out was great. Also thank you to act barbell for coming to compete - as I said to some of the other guys for this sport to grow we need to support eachother with these comps - there are prob at least 3-4 guys now from our comp that will continue to do strongman now.

There are a heap of Pics on our PowerSports Challenge page (around 130) http://www.facebook.com/home.php?ref=ho ... 609&ref=mf

So many to load but I will chuck a few up:
