That means that South West Sydney is starting to rival the Brisbane area for strong people.
Welcome mate.
Just down the road from you is Camden Strongman - and RockSolid is over at Wollongong.
A few comps on the horizon - come and watch if you don't want to play and say "Hi !".

Unless, we already know you and you've just joined the forum?

thanks Doc!

thanks for all the encouragement-yelling for me and young Watson at our first strongman event at the CS vs FDSS!
I was the "extremely fit" Islander dude with probably the worst yoke and famers run ever!

and yes Camden Strongman rules!

Hope to see you guys again soon

PS do you know where I can get tyre and stones and how much??

Yeah, I wrote that, and then I thought...hang on, maybe it's you!
Considering everything, you did well mate. Follow Paddy's example (well the one he was setting anyway )and get the conditioning and the low carb'ing going and you'll be force to be reckoned with!
See you soon!
Tyres are tricky - but Metro Tyres at Liverpool apparently handle the big ones (I asked at Jack's Gully recycling centre and that's where all the stuff from this area gets dealt with).
As for stones, Paddy now has all my moulds back and we are going to be cranking them out to get a few sets for the next comps.
We now have a stone run for the girls going 50-68kg - though we are experimenting getting the 16" to weigh more - as all of "our" girls except Michelle are a little short - it might take a while to get to an 18" - though they'll be encouraged all the way !
Solid concrete will be at $1/kg because they're not fancy schmancy - they do the job - ones with inserts in to lighten them will be whatever the equivalent soid one was - then add the price of the insert - though Paddy has actually come up with a way of cutting insulating foam to use - but I think it might be cheaper to order that from slaters. It's negotiable. But ask Paddy too, cos it's his mixer and his backyard

Hi Silvabak !

Welcome to the forum, I've only been on here a week or so myself but have recieved heaps of positive feedback to my posts.
I'm a wannabe strongman and have given up all interest in "bodybuilding" which I used to aspire to but could never get lean enough !
I'm single minded in the gym now, stuff the mirrors ! I want to lift something heavy !

I have a few bits an pieces of equipment at home, a nice loader tyre for flipping , Mate don't pay for one. The tyre places have to pay to dump them so most land holders take th old ones back to their properties and put them into landfill ( Illegal but it happens ) I got 2 beauties from beaurepairs and they said I'm welcome to take all i like !and a heap of railway track that I plan to make farmers walk implements from.
I have an assortment of rocks for lifting but maily head down to the only gym in town for my workouts seeing that's where all my equipment is.

Keep enjoying your workouts mate !

Hi Steve,

You mentioned in your intro that you are Powered by Jesus Christ.
I am looking to network with Christian lifters and I want to be able to mentor young men at the school I work at and get them involved in some strength training. I have a great poster in my little gym " I can do all things in him who strengthens me"

Anyway, I'm heading out to pick up some material for my Conans walk apparatus, gotta think big and I have the space for it, who cares if the neighbours think I'm mad !

Bless you mate,
Alex

hey Alex

AWESOME brother! great to find a brother in Christ on here. I am always keen to help young people as it is my day job too as a youth worker!
I have a lil training program I run at Cabramatta PCYC where I help a few guys with their strength training and I kinda 'sneak' in a lil encouragement in the word too and taking them to youth group!
as you probably know I too believe in training kids to get strong physically and mentally, but it is way more important to gain strength spiritually!

So yeah man I'd be more than happy to assist in any way.

cheers bro

Great to hear Nathan and Steve !

I'm getting some training singlets screen printed with Phillipians 4:13 " I can do all things through him who strengthens me"
Would you wear one to the gym? It would be poor economics to get just one printed so I'm going to buy some good plain training singlets and get a few done up.

The message at my Church yesterday was " Does what you do glorify God?" That comes down to all things, work, play, hobbies and social interaction. If I do get seriously strong i don't want to glorify myself, I'd be dead now if I hadn't turned to Christ 2 years ago !

Keep fighting the good fight Brothers !

hey Alex!

Nathan, awesome to hear you're a B.I.C (bro in Christ).. I'm also a big fan so its fantastic to hear that! haha
BTW congratulations on the win at the Oceanias. Great battle between yourself, SP and big Tonka (who if you didn't know is another B.I.C).. I'm sure you guys get to spend some time at comps and at eateries!! haha

Anyhow like I said it is O-4-Awesome to hear from you both and yes Alex I would love to wear that on my front lawn!! thats my gym! lol
seriously that'll be my training top if I ever join another gym.. Oh actually that'll be perfect for my lil youth power team when we visit schools and churches!!

thanks again guys

Matt 5.46 "if you love those who love you, what reward will you get"

So lets spread God's love to ALL!!
